Though it is only a modest 1.5%, recipients of such programs as SSDI and SSI will see their monthly benefits increase starting in January, 2014. Those persons getting SSI, for example, will get approximately $721.00 per month. This amount could be lower if the recipient is subject to any set offs against his or her monthly check. The increases occur automatically. People already receiving benefits do not need to do anything to ensure they get the higher amounts.
