By now, we all know that we should not smoke. But if you suffer from chronic back pain, you have even more motivation to quit. Researchers at Northwestern Medical School have found that smokers are more likely to suffer chronic back pain than non-smokers. It appears that quitting cigarettes can improve a person’s chances of staying pain free. The reasons for the connection between smoking and pain are more than a little complicated (see below). But, the simple take away is this: don’t smoke and you are likely to feel better.
